Wonshet

Wonshet is a determined mother of two children: a 16-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son, both HIV-negative. Sixteen years ago, she discovered her HIV status while pregnant, a revelation that brought feelings of hopelessness and stigma.

Before the program, Wonshet survived by doing odd jobs, barely earning enough to feed her family. Today, she has a thriving business in herbal farming and selling vegetables, buying her produce at the Merkato market. She saves 15–20 birr daily and dreams of diversifying her business to include injera-making.

The program gave Wonshet independence and taught her invaluable skills in money management and nutrition. Her children are happier, and her home is filled with love and laughter. Wonshet proudly declares, “We have no more empty stomachs.”
